Proximity sensor not working?

I was talking on the phone when I noticed that the screen didn't go off. An ideas

Either the proximity sensor is not detecting surfaces like it should, or the module is faulty. The former could be remedied by a reboot, but if the latter persists, perhaps you can request Verizon for a replacement device.
