Question about developers preview

I have a couple of questions about the developer preview and cyan. I know for the 920 it is delayed but is there a way to find out on a website what the status of it is? If and when it does get released is there a way to opt out of the developer preview? Or is it not worth waiting and reset the phone so that I get the cyan update? I am worried about losing all the photos and videos of my daughter. I was wondering what the best way was to backup the phone should I need or want to get the cyan update that way. thanks.

I know the update was available for my phone that is why I was asking the original question of if it was coming to the developers preview soon if it all or worth it to reset the phone and ditch the preview and get the update that way.

Tried reseting the phone to try and get rid of the developer preview and that didn't seem to work. The Nokia Software Recovery Tool doesn't work with my phone for some reason, can't connect to my phone for some reason. I really want to update to cyan and I don't know what to do.

What error do you receive? Can you post some screen shots? Also hard reset doesn't get rid of the software, it just resets the software to default.

That is a bummer, I was hoping factory reset would actually go to factory reset and delete some of the software. I try using the NSTR and it just tries to keep finding my phone. I can't seem to use the recovery tool to try and downgrade to 8.0 to get the real update. *edit* the Nokia Software Updater for Retail does the same thing and can not find my phone as well no matter how long I leave it connected to my computer.

Does your PC make a sound when you connect your phone? Out could be that you're missing the Nokia USB drivers which can be installed with the NSRT installation package

Yes my PC makes a noise when I plug it the phone into the USB port on my computer. I have tired 3 different ports. Not sure of it makes a difference but they are all USB 3.0 ports. I believe my wife's laptop are 2.0 ports but the NSRT for some reason can't connect to the Nokia servers even with the firewall and antivirus turned off.

Just look up and use Nokia Software updater for retail it might use different servers? I don't know I find it much more easier to use.

I have been facing the same problem here and neither the NSRT or NSU have been helpful. Apparently I get an error saying that either phone isn't supported or server doesn't have data for my phone!

Try using Nokia Care Suite instead, see if it makes a difference. Also make sure you manually install the USB drivers again from the Care Suite package. For now, when you connect your phone to your PC and after you hear the sound, go to Device Manager and look for something like Nokia under hardware. Delete the device from your system, unplug your phone, restart your PC and phone and replug it in. It should try to reinstall the drivers again

Some newer phones do not have their ROMs on Nokia's servers, my 630 locked to Cricket Wireless definitely does not. In this case, the only way you can get the update is either flash to a different ROM available on Nokia's servers or OTA if the carrier/manufacturer has already released the update.
