Question about rooms

I've just started to have a look at the Rooms feature on my 920. It looks like an interesting concept but I'm wondering if it's any use to me. The missus uses a Symbian handset, although that will soon soon to either a WP or iPhone. Our daughter uses an Android and I think most, if not all my contacts either use an iPhone or Android.

Am I correct in think that in order to use all the features of the rooms, the other members need to be using WP or iOS with limited support?

Don't know on who all can participate in family room... seems to be MS Messenger based.

But I can speak for use on Windows Phones, and we love it! We use it all the time for having shared lists for things like gift ideas and shopping lists etc. Also, without having unlimited texts, chats in the family room don't go against text. Yes, there are other apps for this, i realize, but this is what i started using from day 1 of having the phone.

I'm sure there are cross platform rooms as well, if WP Rooms don't work that way.
