Questions about the L925 - is it still worth?

TL;DR: I loved the phone and yes, it's still worth it

Loving the 925 so far. First thing that popped my eyes was the screen. My God, that's one beautiful display. Blacks on my former 520 look greyish when compared to it. Colors are impressive, sometimes they may look a bit oversaturated, but some adjustment might improve this. This combination of Amoled + Clearblack is amazing. View angles are just perfect and i can see anything outdoors easily. There is a small burn-in on the bottom, which I'm 100% sure it was caused by the 3 buttons used in conversation window of WhatsApp, but that's fine; they're barely noticeable. I can live with that. If you're worried about getting one of those, don't. Burn-ins only occur if you leave the display on on a static screen for very long, especially with high brightness. I'm deeply impressed with screen quality.

Loved the convenience of Glance screen! Now that's one feature that I've been looking forward to try. It's great when I'm busy or gaming; no need to double tap to wake or press power button to check time, all it takes is a quick look. It's just so awesome that i wonder why MS won't promote it more. I've been using it for only 2 days now and already got used to it. I'm afraid that any phone without it from now on will be a deal breaker for me

Build quality is very satisfying. The aluminium frame gives it a true premium look. Mine has a few very small white dots, but then again, I'm ok with that. It's very thin, light and pleasant to hold or look at. Still the best-looking Lumia so far (in my opinion, of course).

I'm pleased with its performance. The device is running with the lastest version of Preview for Developers + Cyan. Everything flows smoothly. Apps opening is fast and "resuming" screens are rare, and when i do see one, they last short. No lags or stutter at all - differently of my old 520, which i feel was butchered by WP8.1 updates :straight:

I have taken pictures and camera so far is damn good. This combination of PureView + Carl Zeiss lens do a great job. I really enjoyed the double flash. It also ends up making a ridiculously powerful flashlight  . So far pictures taken at both day and night time look great. Front facing camera is only 1.2 mp, but it does the job properly. It won't have many use though, as i'm not really the selfie type. I might post some pictures later.

storage hasn't been a issue so far. Approximately 14 gb were available after a reset, which may or may not be little - it depends a lot on the user. If you store A LOT of phots, A LOT of songs and use A LOT of apps, i believe you'll find yourself struggling with storage. With about 100 pictures, 100 songs and over 20 apps, i still have over 9 gb free, enough to store a lot more, and then it may be time to transfer pictures to Onedrive or my computer. So for my kind of user, 16 gb is not small, but as i said, that'll depend.

Sound quality is very good. I can listen to music nice and clear with or without earbuds. Talking about earbuds, i was surprised to find out that they came with 4 pairs of eartips - each pair with a different size, so you can choose the ones that fit better. Never seen that before, so you probably understand my amazement.

Battery life so far is acceptable. Nothing impressive, but it's not awful either, especially considering the brilliant screen and older SoC (Snapdragon S4). It lasts a whole day with moderate use - low brightness, Glance screen on, a lot of WhatsApp and some browsing and a few apps on background. The only downside is that apparently it takes longer to charge when compared to my former 520. But hey, it's a 2000 mAh battery against a small 1430 one, so i'll have to just get used to it.

And that's it folks. I can answer my own question: Yes, it's still worth it. Obviously, there are better alternatives now, with more power-efficient SoC, removable cover and battery, SD card expansion and better support for future updates - like the lumia 830. But if you're short on cash and believes that this phone will do it, go ahead and get it. It's 17 months old now, but still kicks ***, and damn it looks so hot!

So yeah, this was my very short and simple "review" (17 months later, wtf? xD ). Sorry for the long post and spell errors (english isn't my first language). Coming from a 520 i was excited about having a once-flagship-phone-that-still-rocks, i think you guys understand why i wanted to share my experience. Thank you for reading!

Your review assures me of my purchase of a new L925.

I used a L635 for one week and fell in love with windows 8.1 (I am naturally an android user.)

I paid $180 USD for a new L925. I was briefly skimming the defects thread and got kinda worried but I think it'll be okay.

It was a hard decision between the L925 and a Moto x (2013)

925 was indeed a good choice, don't worry :) it still can give a wonderful Windows Phone experience.
I was kind of worried too about some things after reading a few threads where people complained especially about battery drain. But battery so far is good, no drain or crazy heating. Real solid device, i hope you enjoy yours
