Questions about ZUNE

Hold the phone (so to speak).....anyone that knows ANYTHING about audio knows that the earbuds included with Apple products are some of the worst that you can listen to. Any audiophile will attest to this. You'll do (somewhat) better with a $20 set. Better yet, go for headphones around the sweet spot of $100 to get some quality sound without breaking the bank. Just please don't use those cheapos as a reference. They're crap. You're doing your ears and music a real disservice.

Just to clarify, I did not use the Lumia with the iPhone headphone nor did I imply it. My headphones are all audiophile quality (Audio-Technica ATH-M50 and Denon DH-7000). The one I use with the iPhone is the AT which sounds fantastic with it, and appalling on the Lumia. The need for an EQ is because the default output in Lumia is not the best I'm used to and am looking to change the frequencies to something I may like. Without luck anyway. Most of my streaming music is in FLAC and if one were to add them to the Lumia, you can have 4-5 albums and thats it. Not a good choice with limited storage space.

Other than the audio I love the rest of the phone.

I think he was referring to freestaterocker, but that is a shame the audio isn't nearly as good on the Lumia.

I didn't know people had trouble with Zune. It has actually been easier for me than syncing stuff to my WinMo6.5 phone (which was dragging and dropping of folders). You plug the phone into your computer and then drag and drop whatever music you want onto the little phone icon in the bottom left corner. The reason I find it easier, is that I can also drag and drop music into playlists by dragging and dropping music onto the playlist icon and then dragging that playlist onto the phone icon, thus syncing all the music I need on my phone at any time. It is also simply more beautiful. I'd much rather just look at album covers than folders with names under them.

Thanks for pointing out who that was directed at.

And really, I'd hope that someone with the s/n HiFiGuy900 would already know better and I'd obviously not be directing my comment at them ;-).

It's just harder for me to recommend a Windows Phone to friends knowing that they probably will also have to abandon their music library software of choice for Zune.

The only time you have to use Zune is to sync stuff to and from your phone. Otherwise, you can sort all your music with whatever software you want. You can even set Zune to automatically sync whenever you connect a device, so you don't even have to look at it if you don't want to.
