I never used the radio before this morning. Tried it out whilst at work and couldnt get good enough signal to listen to any of my favorite stations. Only problem is, even though I have exited the Zune Radio app, it only shows as "paused" and everytime I hit the volume rocker I see the radio station at the top drop down as well as play and pause buttons which I can't get rid of.

Is there a way to totally get out of the radio application so this doesnt show anymore??

I think hitting pause is the way to turn it off
thats what I always do when I'm listening to music or the radio I just pause it to shut it off ?

I tried playing youtube video and that didnt get rid of it, neither did hitting pause. I ended up having to pull the battery... The first time I ever soft reset since getting the phone 3 weeks ago! There has to be another way to get out of that... =(

I have not found a way to get out of this, but what's so bad about it being there? I found it went away on my phone after a while on it's own.

I don't really mind the previous, play, next buttons up there in the volume controls. It would be nice for "peace of mind" so to speak to be able to effectively quit that application. That being said, I don't think it affects battery life at all.

Edit: Playing a Youtube video with the HTC youtube app did clear it out.
Edit2: And now those play controls are back, heh

Correct. The radio and music player stop recieving the moment you press pause. The phone only remembers the station/song you were last on. There are two ways to remove the player controls manually for piece of mind, first is playing a locally stored video and second is a soft reset. However, if you do not play music the controls will be taken from memory eventually, similarly to tombstoned apps being taken from memory when the phone needs RAM for other features.

To turn OFF the radio, music Player, .... we have to use an App named "stop the music". This is crazy. And some sell it as well!!
If you do not stop the music and wait for the tombstone which could never arrive or several days later?!
We cannot leave the app in pause mode because if you push by accident the start button once it shows up (when you like to adjust the volume for other purpose) you spread the music all around you and this could be a problem if this happen to some places like your work office...
If the radio or music player had this option to stop AND EXIT this would be a normal option.
If the "stop the music" app can do it why the radio or music player cannot do it? The one who wrote the music player app did not know how to exit a process???
Windows phone is the ONLY app that need an app to exit.

The notification from music i was playing doesn't bother me being under the menu when I hit volume controls. Gives me a way to hop right back into music actually. I guess they could add the option for ppl that are bothered by that...
