RAW image format Lumia 920

I'd probably say never as well but I believe this could be solved by a software update

Lumia 1020 and 925 will have support for RAW format with Nokia BLACK update. Why Nokia is ignoring 920 which is still far from obsolete?

I have been having auto focus issues lately with my 920 thanx to nokia camera I am not being laughed at. I also observed that the image I take (usually by holding my breath to avoid hand shake) looks so sharp at the time of capture and for milliseconds after.. then when the processed image comes on it becomes slightly blurry and soft. I know there is some kinda compression going on. I think this can be corrected with a software update.. is this what u guys are talking about? does RAW file give us that sharp image that we captured before jpeg compression?

This is a completely different issue to RAW format support. WP8 does this to let you zoom in and move around your picture instantly - it's all about the user experience.

As far as RAW support goes, the 1020 and 1520 have specific hardware (and much more RAM etc., that sets them apart for the DNG support. I'm guessing that the 920's RAM would be an obstacle for getting RAW support. However, Nokia have to have an incentive to make you switch to their newer hardware and for the photography-focused people RAW is a big draw, so it makes sense they'd only put this support in their latest and greatest hardware.

so u mean all windows phone users are seeing the same blurring I see? u mean by reducing the quality of the image a bit windows phone allows smoother zooming on low end devices? hmm that's a bit sad. I would really love to have the sharpest image possible so I can edit later.. oh well.. if Microsoft thinks this is best then this is best.

The saved image is still the best quality available, if you move it to a computer it will show in true quality. The phone reduces the viewed resolution, to makes things faster to flick through. Annoying sometimes, generally a good idea. I'm sure i saw there was an app available to let you view the full resolution pictures on your phone.

Gdr3 actually buffers the image to your screen resolution. When I zoom it zooms in then buffers to 720.

I don't think so Lumia 925 will get raw support, nokia said it will be only available for Lumia 1520 and 1020 since they does deserve due to 20/40mega pixel sensor.
if Lumia 925 somehow gets RAW support then Lumia 920 too should get since both have the same camera hardware,(Lumia 925 have an extra 6th lens for sharper images ),rest hardware wise both 920 & 925 are same, but Lumia 1020 have an extra gig of ram when compared to 1 gb on both 920 & 925.will be interesting to see in future what nokia do with its old trusty Lumia 920.
