Request for Events Forum change

I realize that right now the Events Forum is for official WP/Microsoft/Mobile shows and events. But would you consider changing it and moving it out of a subforum and into its own, dedicated forum that includes official and enthusiast events like what your sister site, webOS Nation, has? http://forums.windowscentral.com/events-forum/

I plan on organizing Windows Phone Meetups for the STL area in the future and would really appreciate a place to post dates and times.

I just wanted to let you know I am thinking about this and how it can play out on WPC. When your events get closer let me know there are thing we can do to help get the word out.
 
OK, thank you. I appreciate that. I just thought it would be real nice to have a front-facing forum for everyone to easily see, access, and post new events to. Rather than a subforum that is not so easily seen from the root of the forum.

I'm getting real close to having an event organized. I really would greatly appreciate a dedicated events/meetup forum to post in. If you make it just like the one at webOS Nation's forum, that would be perfect.

My apologies but it's a very busy week this week I will take a look at this when I have time.
 
I'm looking in to this I don't have a problem with the concept it could be a good idea. Though I'm not sure how popular it will be at first. I could make a forums for this but it wont be call the events forum I am reserving that for Windows Phone events like MWC. We could call the forum something else like "Windows Phone Meet Up" or something else relevant if you have any suggestions?
 
Thanks for the tentative approval. I really appreciate it. I suspect that if Microsoft/Nokia really pushes WP7 hard this year, you're going to see WP7 Meetups pop in all over the place.

"Windows Phone Meetups" would be superb.
 
If you are looking for the MWC 2012 sub forums it had been removed all the threads have been relocated to the appropriate forums or combined in to the events forum.

I have Bent having the permissions error all day I hope thats a good sine and they are getting things fixed.

It's all good. I'm happy to contribute, it's nice being here. I'll be WP Central's Meetup Evangelist. :) Along with an HP webOS employee, who's now at Nokia, we really did some good work for webOS meetups. I am sure we can do the same for WP7.

Now we just need to find a good icon for this Meetup forum here.
 
One other thing I just thought of. Once I get my meetups scheduled and confirmed, would you admins mind making a front page post about it? Say 1-2 weeks before the meetup, make a quick blurb on the front page alerting all readers to it? And if you'd do it for the other meetups, that I am sure will come in addition to mine, I know it would really create some buzz and excitement. Far many more people read your front page news feed than participate in, or even view, these forums.

WP7 needs all the help it can get and I know these meetups in conjunction with your front page news can really make a difference.

That is what I am hoping for is to get some front page time with these meetuos. I want to keep the forums on the front page as much as possible hopefully driving people to the forums. The more the merrier rite?

Rich is our icon guru he is going to be making some icons up today. If you have something specific in mind post it in this thread and I will email Rich about it.
 
i was wondering if you where going to mention it int he *front page* to get some attention on this new section.

i remember seeing ALLOT of people setting up, meetup in the *general disc* section , now will have a great home for all that :)
