Not sure if this has been addressed or not. I did a search and nothing came up.. Is there a way to save mp3s from internet explorer? Say for instance mp3 skull? Just wondering.. Thanks.

Not at the moment, its obviously to prevent piracy. The question is; if Microsoft will somehow (very doubtful though) implement a method of downloading legitimate mp3 files; like podcasts, radio shows, interviews etc.

I downloaded and saved an mp3 file just the other day...

Granted it was from MediaFire, but it still worked. Try searching for a MediaFire link of the song you're trying to download.

And the file was saved to the Music hub?

I'm actually not sure where it was saved to. It opened in the Music hub, and I was able to play it, play other songs, go back to it, and play it again. I just checked for it and it's no longer there. I went back to the MediaFire link and it seems that MediaFire isn't even supported on WP7 anymore? I don't understand.

Sorry for the false hope.

No problem. Had the same issue when trying to load ringtones before dev unlocking. Emailed files to my phone. They played ok and Zune opened, but the files either only save to temporary memory or get saved into a folder we can't access, so Zune will not see it.

You are correct on this one jimski the "downloaded" mp3 is in temporary memory and have to re-download it every time you want to listen to it. My question is, when is temporary memory cleared out?

Good question. I did a bunch of searching around the file system with TouchXplorer, but couldn't find much useful info. Every third party app, identified by unique identifier (so hard to pin down) has a folder labeled "data" which stores all your data and settings. Would love to back that up somehow. Anyway, back on suject. Didn't see any temp folder where downloads would reside. But even so, Zune labels all its entries with unique identifiers (not user friendly), so you couldn't even move the file if you found it, as I don't think Zune would recognize it.

Yeah I knew it would cache it in a proprietary fashion, that way even hackers and devs can't pirate music or videos... Touch? Microsoft touch?. Regardless, I like being fair and giving money and credit where it is deserved, but it'd be nice to have that legitimate method.
