Microsoft is finally fixing an annoying Excel feature that data enthusiasts and scientists will appreciate. Users will now have the option to disable automatic conversions that convert their alphanumeric symbols into dates.

Excuse me, but annoying to who? To a very particular small group of users that should have known better than to use proper month names as their acronyms and to which excel has had a way to manage for only the last 30 years?

How sad that even on this site, there seems to be a joy in dissing anything that comes from Microsoft, you rarely see this type of write ups when it comes to the other tech companies: Google plasters you with advertisements and pop ups to get you to subscribe to their services and journalists report it as "Google increases advertising and marketing through its sites". Microsoft adds a small unintrusive one-time text for onedrive and journalists go "Microsoft once again trying to convert its properties into an advertising cesspool to try to force you to pay for uneeded services, ......."
