Screen black when I make calls

I'm so sick of my screen going black when I make or receive a call. It's awkward when someone has message bank on and I can't hang up.
I have no screen protector.
What are my options? How have people resolved this issue?

well there might be a problem with your sensor thinking you have the phone at your ear
did you try hardresetting it? the 920 had problems with the isolation between the ear piece and the internals. dust all over the place (front camera for example)

I've started experiencing the same frustrating problem. It only started when I upgraded to Denim from Cyan, so seems to be a software rather than hardware (proximity sensor) issue.

Im not having this problem.
I did used to have a black screen on my 520 during calls, and i couldnt hang up and had to wait for the other person to hang up. The problem was being caused by the case i was using. It had one of those magnetic things to close the case. When the magnetic thing was hanging over in front of the phone, it must have been affecting something. When i folded the magnetic bit backwards, ie behind the phone, i no longer got the problem and everything worked as it should.
I dont know whether youre using a cover with a magnetic whatnot, but thought it would be worth mentioning, just in case ....
