Sell Windows 10 mobile and that division?

Why doesn't Microsoft sell (or just give away) their mobile division?

They just don't seem to have an knack for phones at all, so why not sell it? Give it away to another company that can build the platform and focus on mobile?

I just hate to see another company that just gives way to Google or Android.

They answered this one already "It's easier to keep it alive and running than let go off it and start from scratch all over again" or something like that. It make sense if they have a plan for it in the future

Nope...
Too many important patents and licenses tied to Microsoft's effort.
Even with evident failure the OS and and other elements should be retained by the company.
Selling out isn't viable.

No one can, the market is dominated by the two big player and other smaller groups of Mobile OS are basically doomed, Ubuntu Phone just recently closed down
