sending and using word document to windows 8.1 phone using the office app

hi team. im trying to send a word document form my pc to my new windows phone. i have opened the office app and have sent via email attachment and i cloud. but when i open it seems to have compatible issues.
im using windows 10 on pc using Microsoft word. and the phone is lumia 640. ?

Do you get any error messages when trying to open it on the phone?
