Should I leave my Surface Pro 3 charging all the time?

Windows Central Question

I use my surface Pro 3 every day, but I leave it plugged in & then in the evenings I usually unplug it and use it as a tablet. Will this harm the battery. Plus when it is plugged in the transformer gets really hot.
