Should I replace my laptop with a surface pro 3?

I have a one year old Dell Inspiron 15r and I am a student. My laptop is very heavy and I was wondering if I should replace it with a SP3 or not.

SP3 is a pretty awesome device, but it is quite expensive for a student. Don't get the i3 version because it comes with a low amount of storage space.

Source: 16 year old owner of a i5 SP3. I had to sell everything to get it.

If you are in college I would highly recommend it! For the past two semesters I have been able to go all digital with my textbooks and for the most part my notes as well. No more lugging around heavy textbooks across campus. It is fantastic. But since you probably more than likely have a capable machine that makes it a tough decision.. Keep in my mind if you have an EDU email account make sure to use that to get a student discount. If I was in your situation I would do it but only if you could find someone to buy your current laptop to help with the cost.
