I think the tiles looks nicer with a gradient background.

Gradients are def the best fit to keep the start screen clean and easy to see. Kinda how mine looked before windows 10 allowed fullscreen backgrounds. This is mine now with a simple white to black gradient. Just makes the tiles pop especially with the 640's clear screen.

These are mine, in anticipation of 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' :)

I've found it on Zedge, but it's a lower resolution and it's a bit noisy on HD screen... I'll have to search for higher resolution version. Here's the one I have:

A random lock screen capture that I thought was really pretty.

how do you put the weather on the lock screen? I have the weather notification turned on , but don't see a choice for putting it on the lock screen. Or is it weather app specific? (I currently have the weather channel and Microsoft weather apps, I believe) Thanks

Move the Microsoft weather app (the one with the sun) to your phone memory. Then go to lock screen and choose weather as your background app. Tap open app to confirm it, exit and then you are done

re: [Showing Off] My Lumia 640 Start & Lock Screens

Thanks, but still couldn't get it to work with Microsoft weather app. The app was already on the phone memory, and I assume when you say "go to the lock screen" you mean the lock screen in the personalization settings - which I had forgotten about. Added it as one of the quick status apps, but no effect. I could replace the calendar with weather in the detailed status settings, but that puts it on the bottom below the time and date. On the other hand I was able to install and get the Accuweather app to work - which asks you if you want it on the lock screen when you first open it, however that replaces the background image with ones selected by Accuweather, which is okay I guess....but I was hoping to use the W10 background to advertise that fact that I have a W10 phone :eek:rly: Maybe if I uninstall and reinstall the Microsoft app, it will ask me if I want it on the lock screen too?

Oh my mistake, I assumed that you were on 8.1. I haven't tried this for W10 but it works for 8.1.

More or less my final setup, although ay eventually change the background. One thing I really like about these windows phone is how simple and uncluttered you can make the start screen, unlike the iphone start screen with their rows of buttons which essentially hasn't changed since itouch days.
