Site suggestion

Sorry if this is in the wrong spot, but I have a suggestion to improve the site. You guys should put a QR code in stories about apps so we can scan it with our phones. An Android site I used to frequent did this and it was very convienient. Often times I will be browsing your site on my computer, read about an app, search the market and get too many results, go to IE on my phone, go to your site, find the story again, and click the link. Instead I could just do a visual search to scan the QR right off my computer and be taken to the app.

Thanks for your suggestion its a great idea. We have even experimented with QR codes in the past but it just didn't catch on. Maybe its time to take another look at it.

I think more people may use it now that Mango has a QR/ MS Tag reader built into the search and it doesn't require downloading or opening a third party app.

To put a dampner on things, i've visited a few sites with QR codes and can never be bothered to fire up the camera just for the code, it's just as easy to click a link.

That's just me though.

One thing I don't like about the QR codes is the amount of space they take up on the screen. I am a full time Phone Browser I do 90% of my computing/internet stuff on my phone. Its a PITA to have to scroll around the QR codes on a small screen.

When I want an app that is talked about on WPCentral I just use the app and swipe over and click to download the app. Works seamlessly ;-)

How can you not like the WPCentral app ? It's the best thing since sliced bread, Windows Phone and Jelly Babies!

My opinion is that since you can link directly to the marketplace online and download to your phone directly from the online marketplace (thank you MS for doing this!) then QR cods for apps are kind of pointless.

Exactly! I really enjoy that when I'm online and not holding my phone right there with me. Just click to download and you don't even have to hook it up to your computer or access Zune for it!
