Smart watch compatibility

How well do you think smart watches will work with windows phone 8.1? For example the pebble.

Hmmm...I remember reading that some API's are being opened so devices like smartwatches would work with 8.1 but, it was a while ago, maybe someone else can confirm.

I love the idea of a smartwatch but, till they work with Windows Phone (and flawlessly with no missing parts), and they start looking a little better, I will jump on the list...
