SMS Delivery Confirmation

I'm posting this here as I am not sure where else to post it. Mods, feel free to move it as necessary.

I found out a neat little trick today. I did some google searches on it after I did and didn't come up with anything so maybe it's a little known trick.

I was texting my brother, I sent him a text saying "!!!!" as an addition to the text I just fired away. I immediately received a message back in the same thread saying: "message !!! to xxxxxxx succeeded."

The message contained one less exclamation mark. So I tried sending another message prefixed with ! and the response was the same, a confirmation of delivery. I tested this by sending messages to friends with WP8s and Blackberrys and it worked everytime. I do not know if this is carrier specific (Rogers) or if it is a manual way to activate single message delivery confirmation for Windows Phone 8 devices, but it works.

Give it a try and see if it works for you guys.
 
I'm on rogers it work turnoff after 5min because it was getting on my nerve lol thought it was like imessage ( read)
 
No, I don't mean the setting in the settings menu. I mean prepending a single text message with ! to make it work for only that message.
 
Here is a screenshot of when I discovered it. You can see where I sent three exclamation marks and it used the first one to trigger an SMS delivery confirmation. If it isn't working on AT&T then it must be a Rogers specific thing.

I am on Rogers and this did not work for me

I am on L920

Although my test phone was a TELUS Lumia 800 and I used the 4!, however the lumia 800 only recieved 3!. I still haven't gotten the confirmation messages on my L920 but it appears that that first ! does do something. It could be a network delay between Rogers and TELUS.
 
Update:

I sent the same message to another Rogers user and did not get the confirmation however they did only receive 3 out of the 4 ! marks. Either you have a setting on your phone that you have over looked or there is something wrong with my phone that I just had replaced last night.
 
Weird. Maybe only Rogers customers will respond back with the confirmation. I only tested it with people who are Rogers customers.
