Many people expected that Microsoft would call the next version of its PC operating system "Windows 9" since the last major release was called Windows 8. Microsoft surprised most folks by announcing a couple of weeks ago it would actually be called Windows 10. So what the happened to Windows 9? According to Microsoft's Windows marketing head Tony Prophet today, "It came and it went."
