Some 8X Questions !

Hey am looking at upgrading the 8X but i am still slightly undecided between it and the Lumia 920.

Anyway here are my Questions:

1) Does the 8X have a notification light and does anyone know if it can be used for text messages etc?

2) Will the 8X have a faster camera than the Lumia 920? i have heard that the htc image chip can make taking photo's pretty snappy which is what i want on a phone as i have a 9 month old daughter.

3) Will i be able to use the 8X as a wifi hotspot because i am thinking of getting a Surface RT

4) What colours are people going for because i have narrowed it down to either the blue or yellow but considering i am a 27 year old dad i am not sure if i will look a bit strange or homosexual walking about with either of those colours haha

I am sold on the design compared to the Lumia and i also prefer the audio specs and better "Skype" cam. Plus i am pretty sure its going to be cheaper here in the UK than the Nokia.

The Lumia is definitely a better phone though. Better screen, faster screen, better camera, better build quality, everything.

1) It has a notification light, but it's not clear what will activate it. If it's like current HTC phones then the light will only blink for missed calls. Have to wait and see.

2) I would think that this is the point of having a dedicated chip but again, have to wait and see. I'm sure that WPC, among other sites, will have a full report on things like this come launch day.

3) Most likely. Pretty much every phone has this.

4) I'm leaning towards red, but every color looks really great IMO. HTC did a great job picking out the colors.

Ehhh better screen depends on how you look at it (personally i agree though)

better build quality? IDK 8x is much thinner and has the matte plasticy stuff that i love soo dearly!

I'm not sure how you can say that ? I want to see the screen's rather than just rely on marketing talk for example the Lumia might have a 60fps display but will it really be that noticeable on a phone screen?

Better camera i don't doubt that but i have no need of a super camera on a phone i just want a good camera and more importantly a fast camera, I already own a good Canon camera if i want good photo's i use that otherwise i just use my phone because most of my phone photo's only ever end up on my phone or my pc or someone else's phone.

Better build quality ? again i am not sure how you can be so sure about that? in my experience HTC have exceptional build quality and my nokia lumia 800 was exceptional as well i don't think either phone will be poor in this respect.

I have an 18 month old son, and he doesn't hold still for photos anymore. The camera on my Focus, while decent, simply isn't as quick as I would like it to be - I understand where you are coming from with that first question. The 8X is supposed to have the same image chip that the One X does. Having used the One X camera extensively in an AT&T retail store, I can tell you that it's fast. My wife and I have a mini DSLR that we take with us when we go someplace intending to take pictures (e.g. his first haircut), but most of the time (like most people), we rely on our phones.

Colour-wise, I'm actually eyeballing the red one for myself and the blue for my wife (she loves blue and purple).

Technically, I think it's blue. However, it looks purple enough that you should rock it with the black, "high-contrast" theme. And use a photo of Ray Lewis as the lock screen wallpaper (I'm going to be really upset when Lewis retires - I'm a big ravens fan as well).

perfect!! haha And yes, it was a huge disappointment watching him tear his triceps same game as webb tore his acl. Im hoping lewis returns later in the year or atleast next year!

He's probably referring to the post (I don't remember if it were on the site or forums) where there was a picture of the micro-USB port on several 8Xs, and they looked like they had been constructed poorly and cheaply.

I assume that won't be present in the finalized product, but we'll see.

Saw a Microsoft employee with a blue 8X when I was getting my Surface and definitely thought it looked blue in person and not purple.
