Some questions about the 950 XL

Hi,

I got my 950 XL last Friday and all in all I'm very happy with it. There are, however, some issues I'd like to find a solution for or confirm that there currently isn't one.

Let's start with the second category: am I correct, that there is no way to connect to a WLAN that uses TTLS/PAP for authentication? The data center of my university says so, but they also say that VPN does not work which is an outdated piece of information...

A little thing I miss (coming from Android) is the diagram that shows me the battery history, so far I have only seen the current state. Do I have to get an app for that and could you recommend one? The estimation for remaining battery life seems kind of random and sometimes does not change for hours, but that's only a minor thing.

Next up: video playback. I want to play mkv-files with wvc1 video (1080p) and ac-3 or dts audio-tracks. The standard app does play the video just fine, but it stays mute. I already tried Omni MPLayer which gives me both video and audio, but video playback is stuttering every few seconds (lack of hardware acceleration maybe?). Is there a player that really works? Ideally it would also support bitstream-output over hdmi.
Obviously I could transcode audio to aac or something like that when I copy the files to my phone, but I don't feel that should be neccessary.

I had a problem with Hello, where it would jump to "could not recognize you" in less than a second (and the LED would stay on a few seconds after that). But that seems to have fixed itself after a reboot. Is that a known issue? I think it works pretty well, although sometimes I have to get quite close.

The camera has some problems with autofocus I already read about in another thread (was trying to take a picture of a lit up christmas tree in low light environment), other than that it seems really great. I guess this can be fixed in software some time in the future.

Is there a way to change the font size in WhatsApp and facebook messenger? It's ridicoulously big right now...

That should be all (for now). I'd very much appreciate any help!

As for the video I would recommend you the Metro Video Player :https://forums.windowscentral.com/e...ro-video-player%2F9wzdncrdrlct&token=HlrxXgd1

This was the fastest so far, even better than VLC ( it costs 0.99$ but I guess you can afford such)
Supported File Types: AVI, 3GP, M4V, MOV, MP4, WMV, MKV, FLV, MPEG, F4V, WEBM, VOB, TS, M2TS Supported Video Codecs: H263, H264 (AVC), H265 (HEVC), VC1, WMV8, WMV9, Mpeg-1, Mpeg2, VP6, VP7, VP8, FLV1 Supported Audio Codecs: AAC, MP3, AC3, E-AC3, DTS, Vorbis, Flac, MP2, WMA1, WMA2

Thank you for your suggestions!

Try "battery" app by Arthur Semenov or "insider" app for battery usage statistics
The first one seems to work just fine, only some minor problems with the labels on the x-axis sometimes. I'll have a look at the insider app later.

As for the video I would recommend you the Metro Video Player
I just tested the free version and it did not work (both video and audio stuttering). As you mentioned VLC: I tried that one before. Audio works most of the time but video somewhat inconsistently changes from stuttering to showing only still images to not working at all and back.

Until I find a solution, I guess I have to go with transcoding the audio track. Is it possible to set the phone as output folder for avidemux? (while connected with USB-cable) If I try to choose it, I'm just told that I cannot save there.

It is quite interesting that it was stuttering. Can you upload a sample file somewhere so I can test it out?

I sent you a private message. Interestingly, the short samples play better than the larger files.
