I just bought my first Sonos components yesterday, and I'm already in love with this music system. Unfortunately, there are still no Sonos controller apps for Windows Phone, Windows 8 (Metro), or Windows RT. I have to use my PC or the app on my Kindle Fire HD, but would love to have apps for my Surface RT and Nokia Lumia 920. I tweeted the Sonos team to find out if Windows apps were in the works. They replied with a link to an idea thread that was started on their support forum 11 months ago. The thread is titled, "Support Windows 8 RT for Surface Tablet and Windows Phone 8 for Mobile Devices". So far, 1027 people like the idea, and Sonos has it tagged as "Under consideration".
The latest official response from the Sonos team was posted two months ago and states,
"All,
It's been a little while since our last update and we know that many of you are keen to learn more about the direction of this request.
In short, the direction we're headed in is a good one, but we're not yet ready to share any details at this time. Until we have more to share, we're going to keep this topic marked as Under Consideration.
Thank you for your continued support and for sharing your comments with us."
If you are a Sonos user, please visit this thread to show your support. Here is a link: http://bit.ly/1876V0G. Be sure to "like" the idea and add your comments. Sonos' latest response sounds somewhat promising, but it appears they may need more convincing from WP8 and Win8/RT users to make these apps happen soon.
I'd also love to see Xbox Music integration with Sonos. If you'd like to add your two cents, there's a thread for that too: http://bit.ly/RAARca.
Thanks!
