SP3 battery life

I recently bought a SP3 for my office. I5 128g. I have read that the battery life was not as advertised and a little short. First day I put it to work, logged on to a internet based software, I was on it all day and 60% left when I turned of the open sign. Point being if your iffy like I was because of buJJ**** you hear, don't be it is as badass as advertised. And it does replace your laptop.
41 updates.... Holy ****

I often use my SP3 (i5 256GB) to take notes while in class. I have noticed that I only get around 5-6 hours or so of operating time. It really depends on what I'm doing with my Surface that day. When I got my Surface, my second one after service replacement, connected standby (InstantGo) battery life wasn't the greatest, but has improved significantly over time. I don't think its such a big deal to worry about InstantGo since the Surface hibernates after about two hours anyway.

I would say that the length of time that I actually am using the device, the battery life is sufficient. When I get back from school, I usually find my battery level between 60-75% remaining.

I'm curious to know if the i3 variants of the SP3 last longer on a charge than i5's or i7 systems.

Average battery use is hard to measure accurately.

My i7/256 and i7/512's both last me and my wife all day - working from home from around 9am to 3pm.

I use Lightroom/Photoshop some of the time, email, etc. Wife uses proprietary software on the i7/256.

We both do a bit of browsing/Facebook, Twitter, etc at night. Usually we both see the low battery around 11pm.

I sometimes plug mine in for an hour or so - if I am working with very large Photoshop files.

Definitely depends on what your doing. I found with the SP3, as I found with the rt2, that I'm surprised how long they last and the charge time is very low. It is a new generation of tablets. I think I may still have a laptop mindset.

Does the processor have any impact on the battery life? I'm thinking of an i3 because I just will be word processing, web browsing and general content consumption - no games.

Thanks :)

So something is wrong with my i5/128 because I can barely get 3 hours out of it at work and I just use office apps and surf the web and take notes on meetings with the pen.

In theory, the i5, i7 should use more power - due to the better graphics. But I guess that is offset by the CPU not working as hard in my case. I haven't noticed much difference between our i5 or i7.

Definitely something wrong. I don't really think about the battery until the warning. I have found so far I can use it two days until charging. I would think with your usage a day at the least.

I get roughly 7 hours and carry my power cover if I ever need extra juice. Thou battery life has reduced since I started using windows 10. Also, chrome kills my battery!

The Surface Pro 3 has a power cover?

It's only awkward when I have the keyboard dosed as it doesn't cover the screen. But when I power it off, I put my sp3 keyboard cover on.

It fits just fine and works as advertised. If adds around 4-5 hours to my pro 3

It is same for me - i found out that it is caused by Office Upload center - but there is no way to uninstall it or disable it alone, I tried to reinstall Office 365 twice, only thing that worked in the end was disabling the OneDrive sync, but that sucks.
