Spinning Gears after Factory reset

I recently tried to factory reset my Nokia 920 and it got stuck on the spinning gears. I have tried to get to the exclamation mark to reset the phone by pressing volume down and power then volume up, volume down, power then volume down but it did not work. I have tried letting the battery drain and charging it with the sim card out. I finally used the Nokia Software Updater for Retail to flash the firmware of the phone and the phone gets stuck at the red Nokia splash screen. When I try to update the software and the program tells me to connect my device the program does not recognize it. I've Run out of options and I don't know what to do at this point. I don't want to take it to ATT because I know that I'll just have to buy a new phone. I'm sorry if I'm reposting information but I haven't seen any threads with my specific problem with the Nokia Software Updater for Retail program.

which version of software update retail you are using? try this , definitely it'll work

I'm using the 4.1.0 version. the one in the link you sent was 4.0.1. Do I need that one or should it work with the one I have?

I tried with this with 620 & it worked, try both & have you read the article from wpcentral which I sent you?
