So I starred the return process from th online store. I called the Microsoft store online and not that simplexity outfit listed on the site, no issues with that. Just call ms if you are returning an online order.

They could not start the process right away and will have someone contact me within 1-5 days to confirm the return process and shipping papers. It still shows on there systems that it hasn't shipped lol. So she had to escalate it.

If you paid full price for the phone you have the full 30 days to return it which I was surprised about. I may keep it another week or two now just to see if it grows on me.

When it came down to it being the reason why I returned it. There were a few but the one that popped out of my mouth right away was the volume control of the phone. I mentioned there was one volume control for everything on the phone and the girl on the phone was surprised as we'll by that. Really mind boggling why the phone is set up that way. If my volume for the ringer is very low , then when answer the call the volume will be low as well.....wtf

Actually there are two volume levels on the device. There's the in-call volume level which runs from 1-10, and the system volume level which runs from 1-30. You can only adjust the in-call volume while in an actual call though, and it does remember the value you set from 1-10 between calls.

However there is not a separate volume for applications as opposed to the system. The volume for those cases is indeed universal.

If that's your reason returning the phone wait until you see android. You set settings all the time and they don't stick. Sometimes the volume don't work at all. Sometimes the volume will go all the way down and lock your phone to that volume no matter what you do. And don't get me started on how custom roms mess with it. No thanks I'll live with the 16gb and 2 volumes.

Both my Note II and my Galaxy Nexus would randomly change volumes
This was especially embarrassing when I would put it on vibrate when going into a meeting
...only to have loud sounds play when I got emails and texts

At least we have the SD card option. Aside from Samsung, those SD card days are long gone on Android, and never were there on Apple.

I am not going to android. I have tried every flagship android from all carriers over the last two years trying to get away from iPhones. I finally realized with the note 3 that's it never going to work out. I always liked windows phone but never had a chance to try them out since I was in Verizon the last couple years. I switched back to att a couple months ago with the 5s release. But a huge part of me coming back to att was the amount of phones to choose from.

I am using the 1520 again right now and loving it actually...at least until I have to do anything involving sound...who knows I may end up keeping it as I said but there are some real head scratches with the controls, button layouts.

and the android thing with volumes never sticking I never had that issue on any of the phones.

I had that issue with my Droid R2D2 model. The really embarrassing part is that they encoded the R2D2 beeps into the actual boot files, with no way to disable it. So when the phone would lock up (once or twice a day) I would have the sounds of R2 spazzing out from my pocket. It made working meetings fun...*sighs*

That was my first and last attempt at owning an Android phone.

Stupidest reason to return a phone ever....

The volume on my wife 1520 is obvious as to which is phone volume and which is device volume, and that was the first time I used a Windows Phone (I have a Nexus 5 myself). If the reason for return was "its just too big" I would have understood, kind of.

it may be stupid to you, but its a issue of common sense that MS should have implemented there volume control much better..look around at the review sites or the most requested features. This is one of them.

Jarnts you're really not helping here. People are allowed to make their own lists in life as regards what matters to them.

While I'm fine with how it works even I can admit a couple cases where I wish there was more control over volume.
