Upgraded from 8.1 to 10 no problems. But how do I get the windows 10 screen to load as default and remove the old desktop and icons of 8.1 please

Are you talking about the background picture? That can be changed in the settings. Not sure what you mean about the 8.1 icons on the desktop unless you just delete them. Windows 10 when it is upgraded will keep your desktop and icons you had before the upgrade.
