Storage sense reports 6.06GB used for system. Problem?

That's Weird ... I've noticed my "System" space increased from 2.4GB to 2.67GB
This is up-normal i guess something is wrong .
Also i got problem with my phone space just it's false . My "Documents" 195MB and I've no Documents on my phone at all

WP 8 or 8.1? Hard reset means you have to set everything back up (factory reset)? I wonder how quickly your 3.73GB will increase again? Would be a shame to go through all that trouble just to have the system memory go back up in a week!

BTW, my WP 8.1 system memory is at 4.14GB on my 16GB 1520.

The problem is with windows phone 8.1 where when while transferring files I'd your SD card is slow than during transition some data gets stored in system memory for no reason
If you go to Lumia storage check you will see that all of it is remotest files but you can't delete it
Wait for a few days for system to clear it on it or only hard reset is the option

Holy Smokes!!! My Lumia Icon is showing the system using 24.05 GB of storage via Storage Sense!!! I got a warning that my phone's memory was too full for an update. Funny thing is that I leave this phone on and connected to my home network via WiFi, but my day to day phone is an iPhone. This Lumia is literally just sitting there waiting for the Cyan update.

If you hard reset the phone does it show you after that you can back up your stuff? Such as apps,photos,your start theme tiles?

Yes, SMS can take up very little space, but MMS could be quite a bit larger.

I think my situation may be to do with failed app installations. I.e. apps that were not completely installed but their files are still on the phone. I'm thinking of doing a hard reset tomorrow and will update you.

I think this is the problem. My lumia 1520 system file is now 4.15 GB from 4.11 GB after I cancel an installing application.

Same here.. My Device is Lumia 730, I've had this phone for almost a year now, few months back I started having storage problems like yours. My Phone's Storage is 8GB, My Apps+Games are 2.72GB (I Have no Games), Email+Messaging 291MB, Maps 133MB, System Files 6.16GB, and other small files totaling 50MB.. if you add all that up totals to more than 8GB... current free storage on my phone is ranging from 120MB - 70mb.....This isn't right

Why are my System Files so BIG?? I've checked other Lumia Phones my friends are using, their system files ranging from 2GB to 3GB.. so what is wrong with my phone???

Can someone help me... this problem is interfering with my phones performance.... can someone please help???

My system occupies 5.37 GB of my storage.

I would do a hard reset but I do not want to lose any of my game save progress. Especially GTA San Andreas.
Will just wait for w10m RTM.

It is problem with your app. for example if u use file transfer app like xender, and during transfer file due to any reason if it fails then app will save that in system. you can not delete it, the only option with you is just delete app. you need to check first with which app you have problem. just go to setting->storage sense-> phone-> uninstall app which take more memory then it should use. and DONE!!!

I have a Lumia 930 and my system was showing as 20gig, a friend of mine told me to download and install a new keyboard and it would sort it out. I thought he was winding me up but thought I would try it anyway, I installed English USA and guess what it bloody worked, my system is now 4.3gig. Hopefully this will work for some of you.

My HTC M9 was showing 19.13 GB in system files! After a new keyboard install it is down to 5.9GB. Still a lot. But its nice to have almost 13GB more.

w10m seems to have solved this issue.

On my Lumia 1520

System & Reserved occupies only 3.11 GB and it has been this way for over a month now

I can say the same for my Lumia 640

My 1520 now shows 9.21 gigs. Is there any progress on this issue?

My phone is running Lumia Denim, which is the latest update that ATT shows for me.

I have changed the settings two months ago so that everything goes to the SD card, and freed up 1.5gb space, but it is now full again.

I'd rather not do a reset, as I am sure I will lose data.
