Storage still a problem

I am still dealing with the storage problem - after a year - which it seems nobody wants to acknowledge or fix.

I have an 8GB phone with a 16GB external storage chip and all media is stored there.

Of my 8GB on the handset, 1.9GB is system, and then 3.9GB is 'other' leaving me with a few apps and a big level of frustration.

None of the suggestions I have read on forms works in shifting this ... I have deleted apps back to the bare minimum, and I have tried with the app 'Shrink Storage' to no avail.

Nobody at Nokia wants to reply to my repeated requests for help, and I am at the end of my patience with a handset that has never delivered what it promised in the first place - a great disappointment and in my view inexcusable lack of customer service from Nokia.

Does anyone have any suggestions before I discard this phone totally?

Hey welcome to WPCentral forums
If your lumia 720 is running the latest version of windows phone 8.0 (I.e GDR3 update + Nokia black firmware update ) , many users have this problem of other storage. There isn't a proper solution but you can clear some temp files by deleting IE history. Once windows phone 8.1 update is out which is set to be released this summer (it's still Available as a developer preview ) you won't face such issues as Microsoft has fixed this issue. Bonus you will be able to move apps to your micro SD card :smile:

Interesting, I have about 2GB of OTHER storage that I like to reclaim the space. But, I already loaded the WP 8.1 developer on my 925. If I do hard reset, will I lost everything?

Hard reset will fix it but It will be filled up again. People need to understand what other storage actually stores.

Just 15 min back i had a 1.8 gb other men, but now its showing 2.5 gb. Any ideas? I wanna hard reset but cant cause i don't wanna lose whatsapp. Why did it increased so fast?
M also thinking about erasing all songs from my sd card #L520

In 8.1 with a similar set up to theOP, I have 2.X Gb of apps and my free space hovers between 900 MB- 1.2 GB. When ever it hits the former, it seems to trigger something and restore the storage to the larger number. Other remains in the MB and can be cleared out for me

I guess upgrade to Windows 8.1 should solve the storage problem. I am using Lumia 720 and i use about 40 apps and there's little space remaining in Phone Memory. Wish the update comes soon enough then i can push all apps to SD card storage.

A few days back I found that much of the reason for storage lost to other was WhatsApp . I had joined a group where people used to send a lots of photos and videos, and I regularly deleted them from my gallery. But a few days later I was left with just 100 mb of storage. I was wondering why my phone got so slow when I saw that storage. When I deleted and got removed from all the groups in my WhatsApp , the problem solved .
