Just an FYI so you know what happened.

Streak Leader made this post in the Nokia 822 forum: http://forums.windowscentral.com/nokia-lumia-822/209446-wireless-charging-battery-covers-sale.html

I ordered the wireless charging battery cover and wireless charging plate (both in black) from Verizon (over the phone).

When my order arrived, I got the charging plate, but curiously, there was a rather large box inside the package as well. Upon opening the box, I discovered that Verizon sent me 10 black wireless charging battery covers.

Verizon's loss is your potential gain. These covers retail with Verizon for $40. I will sell them for $20 shipped (first class postage).

If interested, please send me an e-mail through WPCentral. I will accept PayPal gift only.

I gave him a warning for it and I said: You can't sell merchandise that isn't yours in the forum.

He's PM'ed me twice now. Here's the first PM he sent me:

How can this be construed as selling merchandise that doesn't belong to me? Verizon sent the items to me. They are in my possession. I now own them.

I thought that when I didn't see my post that it had been moved to a different subsection of the forum. I certainly don't want to violate any of the rules of the site, but I fail to see the logic here.

Then his second PM said:

Just to add to my prior message, there's nothing in the Sticky in the Buy, Sell, Trade forum that says anything about your stated reason for deleting my post and giving me a warning

I wrote back to him and said:

Look, I am not trying to hang you out to dry here. I didn't give you an infraction, where multiple infractions can get you banned. It's just a warning.

It wasn't post in the barter forum and you can't post in the barter forum yet due to your post count.

Saying you'll only accept paypal as a gift is deceptive. It's not a gift, You're selling them. Isn't that to avoid a transaction fee with paypal? or am I incorrect?

Lastly, I don't think it's ok to take advantage of someone else's mistake. You paid nothing for them and now you're trying to profit off of their mistake.

If you still have problem with my action you can take it up with the administrator, Dave Blake.

Thanks!

Thanks for the heads up. Grats to him if Verizon really sent 10 charging plates. However, that seems like a pretty fishy story.

I agree with you. I don't buy the story. It sounds like the way he acquired those 10 charging plates was by some illegal means, like maybe he stole them from VZW (maybe he's a dishonest VZW employee).

@palandri, yes gift PayPal is to avoid the transaction fee, but it also means the buyer has no recourse if he/she gets ripped off by the seller. You can't file a claim on a "gift".

I never knew that about PayPal. I will make a mental note to avoid all gift purchases.

Sounds like Verizon made a mistake. I'm sure they will figure it out soon enough. The op should have contacted Verizon and made it right instead of trying to sell that stuff.

Good call Augi he hasn't contacted me. The whole thing sounds like a scam. If he PM's me I will take care of it.

Exactly and that's what I would have done.

We've had a couple of threads similar to that recently. I remember another one where a guy order a 920 online, then he purchased one at an AT&T store and cancelled his online order. His online order still went through and he got a 2nd phone, so he was going to sell it. He was like, it's their mistake, it's not my problem. It's mine now.

I remember that thread too. It was out of control.

I guess these guys don't realize that the carriers aren't stupid and will eventually send a bill for the equipment.
