Stutter in returning to home

I was at ATT playing with the 830 today, and while performance in general looked fine, I noticed that if I launched a program and then hit Home to go back to the home screen, the animation of the home screen swooping in would consistently stutter. This is only if I'd launched a program (i.e., if I just swiped to the program list and then swiped back, no stutter). Has anyone noticed this? None of the phones were set up on LTE, so I was wondering if it was making a difference.

Simple solution is to take Cortana off the homescreen.
Happened with my 1520 so it isn't a processor related issue.
Weird but whatever.

Does not work on my AT&T version as that was the 1st thing I did.. Still shudders when returning to the home screen..

It's no big deal really..

Yeah its all Cortana, if you set the tile to the smallest one it works fine. Medium and large tiles makes it stutter. Not sure why they still haven't fixed it yet though

I've noticed this on all Windows Phones. I think they need to fundamentally alter the home screen animation.

Same here with my 1020. The tiles stuttered when the Start screen flipped like the page of a book. I unpinned Cortana from my Start screen and the tiles do not stutter now. :) But I do think they can change the animation a bit.

Cortana is the only live tile that seems to have some more advanced animations... (It bounces up and down, turns into weather icons, etc.) whereas standard live tiles just shift a static image.
I think this has something to do with this and I am certain MS is on the case.

The good news is that you can still get to Cortana just by tapping the search icon that's always there on the bottom :)

Yeah it's happened ever since Cortana was added. I have a 1520 in the household and recently went from a 925 to a 830 and they all do it.

Unpinning the Cortana Live Tile from the Start Screen helps, but doesn't necessarily resolve the issue.

So far with the Lumia 830, it actually hasn't mattered, which matches your observation. This may be due to the Lumia Denim firmware on the device? It's hard to say. I have the Cortana Live Tile pinned and depending on how many background apps are running, you will see a slight delay in the animation of the Start Screen flipping back to focus.

Honestly, I don't give a sh*t. Loving this phone.

830 doesn't have denim installed or not the one I had!

I never pinned cortana on my home screen and still it often lags like hell. Also happens with 2 columns and plain colors tiles instead of wallpaper, but less noticiable. Definitely something they need to fix.

I think the issue is pretty widespread, and while Cortana probably adds to the issue, it isn't the only cause. Sometimes I see it more often when leaving graphically intensive apps. I actually rarely see it on my Lumia 1020 and I have Cortana pinned to my Start screen. Leads me to believe that it has more to do with the OS being too busy suspending/closing an application while at the same time trying to render the home screen animation, so it looks a little choppy.
