Got my stylus today, a month ahead of estimated delivery.
The OneNote writing kinda sucks. (maybe i'm using it wrong? how are u guys using it?)
Windows Journal is great but it's online support is nonexistent.
Also i'm getting extra lines while writing. like even though i lifted the pen, it still writes for a bit in the air. IS there an option to decrease the lift sensitivity(distance) ?

The writing sucks because the pen is crap. Nothing beats OneNote for note taking on a Windows PC, sorry but its a well known Venue 8 Pro issue. Check the web for videos of the Asus Vivotab Note 8 for how good OneNote can be. Handwritten notes are even searchable and the notes obviously sync with WP.

Re: Best app to take notes with Stylus

But i got the latest revised A01 stylus. it should be fine?? :(
my dream of being a high-tech nerd in class is failing LOL

Re: Best app to take notes with Stylus

To OP, try the Metro app version of OneNote. It is much better to use than desktop version. As for comparison to Vivotab, I saw no difference between my DV8P and that. BTW, in the video, he used handwriting input keyboard which can recognize and convert handwriting into text. That's part of OS.

Right at the beginning of the video he's using the Metro version of OneNote. And its widely acknowledged that even the new stylus isn't perfect and doesn't compare to inking on the Asus, not sure where your information that they are of the same quality is coming from. Ample feedback in this thread http://forum.tabletpcreview.com/dell/60906-results-new-dell-stylus-venue-8-11-pro-tablets.html on the new stylus and the fact that its still hit and miss.

Re: Best app to take notes with Stylus

It's no Wacom digitizer. That's for sure. But where you get this widely acknowledged opinion? As far as I know, not many ppl actually get the new revisions yet and the ones received all posted that it works much better. I watched the video and I don't see anything in there I currently can't do with my new stylus and DV8P easily. The only difference I can tell is that Dell probably tuned down the stylus sensitivity a little bit in the new revision. Using the same test as in video, I can see the screen registers the stylus in around 10mm, short than the 20mm posted in the video. Which means you need make sure your stylus touches the screen much earlier than your palm to avoid confusion. That's only difference I can see. TO OP: make sure you applied the new touch firmware released on Jan. 2, 2014. That will make a pretty big difference for touch sensitivity issue.

Re: Best app to take notes with Stylus

I already have the new touch panel firmware a long time ago, like when it was released.
My battery ran out last night though, and I realized that the battery ran out quite fast, expiration date is 2018. I'm going to buy some new AAAA and retest.
I heard of a report that if you put the stylus close to the tablet the battery drain like crazy?? I can't afford a battery a day if this is true
