Subscription required for new stand alone Xbox music app?

I usually just use Xbox music to listen to music stored on phone and downloaded podcasts, but when I tried the new Xbox music app, its says I need a music pass subscription to use app and if I don't sign up for $9.99 month subscription, app just closes out

Just click Back Arrow Button when it asks for music pass. Do not click Cancel, just Back arrow. This will take you back to the app and you can continue to use XBox Music.

Thanks, should have thought of that. Also figured out if you turn off cellular data in app settings it will stop popping up that dialogue box
