Suddenly I feel our Lumia 1020 is "less unique"... Here's why.

Lumia 9xx also have 4sec shutter speed, at least 1sec for all other Lumias. And manual focus to all Lumia.
Suddenly I feel what's unique then to our 1020, except the 41MP oversampling.

Our beloved 1020 should have 10 seconds shutter opening.

and not only it does have 41 MP , it has improved optical image stabilization with the help of ball bearing which not found on any Lumia

two words why the 1020 is still unique '' large sensor'' try and get that via software ;-) only the 808 and 1020 have really pushed the boundaries here ...... the 920 , 925 etc still use the same size sensor as the sgs3 and 4 etc and the 1520s and icons sensor is smaller then the z1s and z2s ;-) until the 1020 and 808 are superseded by a larger sensor they will still remain unique

I would say for me they should have had the camera softare just for the nokia 1020. if you remember when the 1020 was released the camera software was only on this phone..then they rolled it out on all other lumia phones so it did take away some of the magic I felt the 1020 had

you shouldn't compare Lumia 92x camera sensors with sgs3 or 4...92x sensors are way better

The problem of asking for longer shutter speeds is twofold:

1) Increased noise, most dSLRs will take double exposures toremove excess noise or take a 'blank' frame. The processing of images on the 1020 is already plagued with slow response times, doing long exposures will make massive demands on the phone processor even if it's capable.

2) Excess heat generated and reduction in sensitivity. The longer you leave the shutter open the longer the sensor is in use and that generates heat. With dSLRs they have space to dump these excess heat but with the Lumia's being sealed units it's more difficult to resolve.

The reality is that good cameras are inevitable on all high end smart phones. 1020 owners just get to enjoy that a couple of years before the thundering herd.

why not? its true the sensor size is the same I am afraid ..... it is the optics that are made by carlz zeis not the sensor as far as I know?? also the 920 only has 5 lenses the same as the s4 , its also worth noting that I have used both the s4 and the 920 and they both produce very good shots its only in darkness the 920 pulls ahead because of ois ..... the s5 uses 6 lenses like the 925 however Samsung are having troubles with their iso cell lens and centering it which I found quite interesting ...... but as I said the 920 and s4/s3 etc sensor are the same size mate so what I said is true ...... now the optics being made by carl zeis may help nokia a bit but how do you know the sensors are much better??

Its great to be unique, but I don't think that uniqueness should come at the expense of other devices. Deliberately blocking features on other devices isn't a good way to make something unique.

Our camera is still the unique feature, even if the software itself isn't.

ohh no.... But I wish Nokia does something for it, Oh God, Please...they do.
