Super Wobbly Lumia 920 Video

I just recorded a video with my almost a year-old Lumia 920. I put the Lumia horizontally on a garmin GPS mount (pictured below) and then tie it firmly with a piece of rubber band. The resulting video is so painfully wobbly. In the very beginning of the video, even before the car started moving, you can already see the clouds and sky in the background wobbling around. And as I pull into the highway, it is just UGLY!!

What do you think is wrong?? Is it because the whole setup with the garmin GPS mount simply is not sturdy enough to fully support the weighty Lumia 920? Man, I am seriously hoping my OIS is not defective...

Unfortunately I think you have some kind of hardware problem :crying: You could try a hardreset, but that will delete all data in your phone, and I don't think it'll help

Actually, I just remember one video (see below) that was taken with a different mount a month ago, and the result was so much better. You can jitters here and there as the car hit bumps along the road, but the sky is solid and steady throughout the video. Let me try recording another video with this particular mount. Please... my OIS, I seriously don't want you broken...

You can simply check the ois by opening Nokia camera and looking on the viewfinder.see if it wobbles or actually tries to counteract your hand movement.

I did that. I was waving the phone with my hand, and then I half-pressed the shutter button. The OIS was indeed activated because the viewfinder, which was shaking around like crazy due to my hand movements, suddenly came into a spooky steadiness.

And also, I think I know the main cause of that wobbliness: ball-and-socket joint. I think ball-and-socket joint is simply not firm enough to consistently support the mighty heft of Lumia 920. The second video I posted above was taken with the phone sitting in a mount with ZERO ball-and-socket joint.

Perhaps. You gotta know that half-button press to activate OIS is required only on the default phone camera. On Nokia Camera, you don't need to press the shutter button halfway. If everything seems fine, its just the balls.
