Surface 3 Compared to Gen 1 Surface RT?

I was happy with the performance on 8.1, but that only ran a few days before I upgraded. So yes, I agree that Windows 10 is probably the main issue, but it's very disappointing they couldn't do a better job on what should be a reference device. I do like Windows 10 in general but the glitches are driving me nuts.

It's great on my desktop. Just kind of ironic the Surface 3 is so problematic.

I went from an RT to the S3. It is night and day. I have had none of the issues since I updated to W10 on my S3 that michail71 has had. In fact, if you buy a new S3 now, it should already have W10 on it. So, don't expect that to have problems or you could exchange it. I rarely touch my desktop now that I have the S3. There is no need unless I need some serious processing power. I do travel a lot for work. So, the S3 has been absolutely phenomenal.

I'm trying to figure out why I'm having these issues. I don't even have any non app store software other than Office. However, this morning my Surface was very cooperative in a meeting! :)

Do you have a pen? If so does the Surface app work with the pen?

Yes, I have a Surface Pen. Works perfectly fine.

How about with the Surface app? Mine works, just not with the Surface app. All the options in it are disabled with messages it can't communicate with the pen. Seems to be a common issue.

I admit the first time I launched the Surface app after the latest update it didn't work. I took the battery out of the Surface pen and it worked again. That was it. All fixed. Give that a try.

Any tip is appreciated. I'm doing a reset now so I'll try that if it still doesn't work. My system CPU was stuck at 100% and the audio was crackling.

Did you take both batteries out the AAAA and the 319s?

Did that next, no luck, lol. I did a complete wipe. Then tried the battery thing again.

It's really weird that a couple people manage to get it working and most people have this problem. Perhaps if I take it to the store I can try a different pen. Although, it did work on Windows 8.1. It could even launch the desktop OneNote.

Sounds like yo need to take it to a Microsoft Store to get it checked out. I have not heard of anyone having as many problems as you have. So, it may be a hardware issue which can be replaced by Microsoft to solve your issues. Good luck. Please let us know how it goes.

It's also an LTE model.

When I've submitted feedback I've seen many other entries for the same issues. Just look at the reviews on the Surface app. Every one of them says the pen has stopped working after the Windows 10 upgrade.

I'm going to get to the store in the next day or two and see if they can get the factory image on there.
