Surface Book or Spectre x360?

I returned Spectre x360 and got Surface book for below reasons

1) Overheating on Spectre x360 (I got the i7 model). No need to carry any laptop cooling pad with Surface Book as no heat comes out of keyboard dock( mine is non dGPU version).
2) Trackpad and keyboard lot better on Surface book
3) Display quality and Aspect ratio(except for watching videos) a lot better on Surface book

Digging up this old thread for your retrospective take on this. I'm in the same position deciding between these two devices. Are you happy with the SB? Do you think you made the right choice?

If you had asked me last November, I would say that I probably screwed up keeping the SB. But now that they have updated the firmware and drivers, I am happy. It just works. It can still use some improvements, mostly related to sleep mode, but mine just works.

I'm good.

its been a while, and the question remains :-)

HP Spectre x360 or Microsoft Surfacebook... Any suggestions based on latest updates in these product lines?
HP Spectre seems more reasonably priced, but clearly the Surfacebook will be more powerful, will overheat less, has a better touchscreen, better touchpad,
I will use this for student work including Excel. I already have an Android 8.4" tab, and 12/13" tab is way too big and heavy to use IMHO. Surfacebook's cost is way higher for the same config of 6th gen i7 CPU and 16GB RAM version for either laptop.
I've used laptops with digitizer pens earlier (HP Touchsmart TX2) and don't have any major need for it now.
I will use the laptop in _\ mode (what is it called?) and normal laptop mode, and I don't really need the tablet mode on either.
I also need Windows 10 Pro - which I can't find on Spectre right now.

What would you suggest?

I may not help with Specter vs Surface, but the keyboard acting as a base in tablet mode is one of the things I dislike on my Lenove Flex 3. I'd personally go with the Surface.

My bro has the spectre it is a seriously well built piece of machinery. I say this because he is known to destroy laptops and he has been doing so consistently every 6-12 months and buying new ones. He has lasted pretty long with this one and it still looks like new. The surface book is nice but I don't like the wobbly hinge. I rather wait to see what they do with the surface book 2.

Oh wow this thread is old didn't realize it.

Thanks for chiming in! Have you tried the HP Active Pen with the Spectre x360?
It's surprising that Adobe Premiere Pro just crashes - what version of Adobe CS are you using?

This is strange to me as well. I have a 2013 Macbook air with an i7 and 8 gigs of ram and it runs Premiere Pro just fine. Rendering takes a long time but everything else runs along nicely.
