I have been using Acronis True Image for years on various machines and have also used it on my new Surface Book to make exact images of the hard disk that I can restore easily. The way I make the image is by using the Acronis Bootable USB media and have never found any issues with this. However, on the Surface book, if I select the option to automatically shutdown the Surface after a restore or a backup, it counts down to zero and then freezes. This mean I have to hold the power button down to switch the Surface off. Acronis were not helpful at all on this issue.
