Surface GO running Windows 8.1 ?

Has anyone tried or is it possible to install Windows 8.1 on a Surface Go?
Reason being I much prefer the tablet mode in 8.1 the Windows 10 which all but useless IMHO when compared to Windows 8.1 Tablet Mode

Sorry for necroposting, but I want someone to find an answer to this question as I'm wanting to do the same with my Surface Go.

Don't , w10 will be much longer supported and the Go is made for w10 and not w8.1 (so using it for 8.1 even if it would work will work buggy) and newer uwp stuff don't support 8.1. Instead I would advise to increase w10 anim speed (more smooth), install/customize gesturesign (store), use Timeline, increase OS scaling.
