Surface pen (on surface book) bluetooth connected, but no ink or erasing?

So my pen is bt connected, the button functions, but the pen neither erases or inks. The touch on the surface book itself works, I was able to use another pen, and finger/multi touch works. Just... No pen in or eraser. I've reset the bt connection, reinstalled the driver, installed new tips... I'm out of ideas, anybody else run into this scenario?

Have you replaced the battery? I had a similar issue when my pen for the SP3 needed the battery replaced, it only occasionally wrote.

The battery is a AAAA, had to get mine at Best Buy as most places don't carry a battery that size.

I'll check. I'd find it weird if it could connect via bt yet not have the power to ink/erase. Who knows, I'll report back when I get there battery.
