Surface Pro 2 | USB socket on PowerSupply/Brick not working

Hi Guys

I recently got my hands on SP2 and although my wireless keyboard and mouse works fine using the USB socket on the SP2 itself when i transfer the USB device key/nub/chip to the USB socket on the powersupply/brick it doesn't work.

Do i have to 'enable' the port? Is there a physical switch / toggle that i'm need to flip or is it purely power only and can only charge devices?

It's only a charger port, meant to charge a phone or mobile device
