I upgraded my SP3 on the 29th to win10. It ran for about a week and I started having some issues. So I did the factory reset via the settings. It did its thing and upon reboot started blue screening over and over. I couldn't get it to boot. So I did a fresh install. Used the media creation tool and download win 10 pro, reinstalled fresh after wiping the drive.

Installed perfectly, skipped the product key like advised in all the online how to's. When done my surface was activated again and ran the windows updates. I did this fresh install last Thursday.

Yesterday morning i booted it up and immediately got "this is not activated". Error in the updates/activation section said it was a bad key.?? Only option was to purchase another key. So i rebooted.

after reboot, everything was fine again. Windows was activated. No problems rest of yesterday. Wake up this morning and pwr up. It's not activated again. Reboot... Still not activated.

WTF?? Is going on? I know i was activated before i did the fresh install and had no problems... After doing the upgrade through windows update.

mmmm I had exactly the same issue as you and recovered the same way, but mine has never flagged an activation problem? Strange.....

I'm having pretty much the same issues...

I upgraded to Windows 10 on the 29th, activation worked, all was good. So the next day I did the "clean" install using the MS download, did it from USB key. Activation worked after initial boot, then later in the day it said I wasn't activated. After changing the key (hitting the change key button) a few times activation worked and all was well.

Fast-forward to this past Saturday (8/15) and I turned on my Sp3 and of course I get the activation issue again, and I can't seem to get it fixed. I'm going to try calling MS later today to see what's going on...

I haven't had the problem since the 12th when I last posted. Not sure what was going on but its running as expected now.

ummm.. so i had to say that and all of sudden today i got notice i was not activated again. said i needed to buy a key and the specific erro was my key was blocked. reboot didnt fix it but power off, then on again after 10seconds im activated again. This is BS!! $1100 surface i5 that is 5months old. should not be having this problem..

Just before activation was lost I got a notification that I needed to re-enter my MSA credentials to verify my identify.

When I had these issues, I was asked to "verify" my identity each time I booted. Now that the activation is somewhat stable I don't get that anymore. This is really the only nagging issue with my SP3 and Windows 10.
