I recently got my Surface Pro 3! However, after browsing through these forums I'm seeing a lot of individuals comment on severe stability issues (problematic battery, drivers, WI-FI...) when upgrading to Windows 10. What is the best course of action with a new SP3? Should I leave it at Windows 8.1 or should I do a clean install of Windows 10? What are the best methods to avoid stability issues?

I would just upgrade right away and see what happens after.

My laptop's upgrade has gone reasonably smoothly although I'm sure others with the model have had some kind of issue. (no clean install needed yet.)

You cant protect yourself from all the problems, just change the odds, which are already in your favor despite the scary picture painted by these forums.

Just do it, if issues arise, we'll deal with it. Otherwise, yay.

I had a few issues after upgrading from 8.1 so I decided to do a clean install and the issues were resolved.

Clean install IMHO.

Just remember to BACKUP your stuff to an external drive BEFORE doing the update. Just incase things go wonky.
