Surface Pro 3: black screen [fixed] but why does it do that?

Does anyone know why the black screen appeared on start-up, furthermore could this be linked to the fan? As all I've done is turned the surface on and came straight here (fans blowing pretty fast now). Usually the fans never on during start-up :/
