Surface pro 3 docking station not compatible!

Yup unfortunate title. Also I went and put the pro 4 into the pro 3 docking station no problem at the MS Store. It works fine. Also the pro 4 is noticeably lighter for what it's worth. SO CONFIRMED: PRO 3 DOCK IS PRO 4 COMPATIBLE.

Ok i know this is not a trending thread anymore but, what did you guys figure out about the dock compatibility? Are adapters needed and really free from MS, or will it fit just fine without them or with a bit of a struggle? K'm buying one for my upcoming surface pro 4, that's why i need to know as i like the old dock more.

Thanks guys

The two devices are the same size and the ports are in the same place, there should be no adapters needed to use the SP3 docking station.

I was also told by a MS Store employee that all of the SP3 accessories are compatible with the SP4. I am using my SP3 type cover right now, as well as a SP3 case, on my SP4 right now.

I'm using it for last two month. I didn't noted any issues with it - works perfect.
Fit fine and I don't know why MS made those adapter.

There are some old bugs like:
connected but not charging
fail to recognize usb devices
displayport not working

but any issue fixed with connect\disconnect power for doc.
