Surface pro for gaming

I have the Pro 4 (i5/4GB RAM). I can run Steam with no issues...as long as that's ALL I'm running. I play older games like AoE II, StarCraft, Homeworld 2. I like to live vicariously through my old PC gaming days and that about does the trick for me. Otherwise, if I'm playing anything newer it's usually me streaming my Xbox One to my Surface. If you spec it out enough, the Surface Pro is not a bad gaming machine.

You could do a lot worse, but for games that are both fancy and recent, look for something more powerful.

I have an SP3, and for occasional light gaming when I travel, awesome, but any new(er) titles I leave until I get home and can play on my gaming PC. Do not buy SP for gaming (outside of UWP games)!

the Iris graphics of the Core i7 is a significant step up from standard Intel graphics that come with the i5 and below.

that said, while gaming will be okay to good, if gaming is the primary use, then it's better to get a gaming laptop.
