The only thing Surface RT will not be able to do is stream Time Warner TV - no app yet (but be aware that all streaming websites will work, CBS, NBC, ABC, WatchESPN, HBO GO, etc). You also will not be able to play the great games that are on the IOS platform, simply because they are not yet available on the Windows store (Note - Asphault just came available, so shows that Gameloft games will be available in the future). I really want EA to release their mobile games on Windows - Tiger Woods, Madden, FIFA, NFS, Real Racing, etc......EA, are you listening to me (lol)

Other than those reasons, you will find that you use you ipad, pretty much never after you get Surface RT. The Windows 8.1 interface is so much better than the boring IOS. The fact that the desktop is still there for simple tasks such as file management, and for MS office, just make this thing that much better. Add to that the fact that you can use Native Remote Desktop instead of LOGMEIN........LIGHT YEARS BETTER. If your PC is running windows 8, it supports all gestures, and syncs perfectly. I have my home PC and tablet with the same backgrounds, so you cannot even tell when your in RDP.

XBOX music is awesome, works really well. I am on Verizon, and have an old Galaxy Nexus (im waiting for the 1020 to come to Verizon). Google Play Music, spotify, and Pandora all crash my phone. XBOX music seems to work flawlessly.....how this works better than google I don't know, but it works great. Not to mention that the web player works great on Windows 7, 8, 8.1, and you have your answer.

On iOS, in certain applications (not system-wide) you can mirror what's happening on your phone/tablet screen onto the TV wirelessly via an Apple TV - whether that's showing photos, YouTube videos, games, films - anything you might want to show someone/some people on a bigger screen.

I don't think this works with Windows, Windows phone and xbox. I have an imac, apple tv, my wife uses an ipad and her iphone .I use a Lumia 920, Surface Pro, my iMac and apple TV plus xbox.

the iMac, Apple TV, ipad, and iphone all stream to the apple tv. The imac I can stream and it actually shows my desktop.

On xbox, there is no solution like this that I have found, it might be on the xbone but that hasn't been released yet.

Actually I don't consider myself "switching" from ipad to Surface RT, in fact I keep them both, the convenience of file management on Surface RT is so overwhelming, ipad just cannot compare with it, since I mostly use Surface RT for PDF books reading and video clips playback, and including some video gaming. Both tablets can handle these tasks, but when it comes to transferring PDF books, video clips from my desktop to tablets, Surface RT wins a lot, because all I need to do is to copy files to a USB drive and copy it to Surface RT, while I'll have to use iTunes to transfer files to ipad, which takes too long, not as convenient as Surface RT. The reason I keep ipad is for some apps, I have to admit, some software developers just don't want to develop apps for Win8/RT, in that case having an ipad is very useful.
