Syncing Messaging between phones

I have 2 phones, a Lumia 920 on ATT and a Nokia Lumia Icon. Is there a way to speed up the syncing/backing up of the Messages to/from OneDrive? As it stands, I do most of my texting from my Lumia 920 because it's my primary number and right now I can see those text messages on my Icon the following day. In fact when it syncs them in, if I had any unread, it'll show unread on my Icon which is pretty cool. I'm wondering if there is a way to speed this syncing up? Any ideas?

To be honest, I'm not sure.

SMS messages are stored in a folder in your Outlook.com, so it seems reasonable to assume that they're synced using the same mechanism and frequency. Theoretically, increasing the frequency at which your Microsoft Account syncs email will also affect SMS messages too.

Thanks for the reply but that doesn't seem to make a difference. SMS backup appears to use something else. I think its tied to the same backup schedule as apps and settings.

Hmm.. Not in my case.

I just sent myself a text message and looked for it in outlook.com. It wasn't there. However, it appeared as soon as I refreshed my Microsoft Account mailbox on my phone.

Thanks, I just tried forcing my Microsoft Account to sync on both phones and it worked. But sending or receiving a message on my Lumia 920 does not initiate or cause my Microsoft Account on my Lumia 920 to sync. But if I manually sync my MS account on my Lumia 920, my Lumia Icon will pick up the change and sync on it's own. So I guess I need to find out a way to trigger a MS Account sync on my Lumia 920 when I send/receive texts.

On a side note, I use an MS Account that doesn't have an MS email. It's actually my work email address that I use to sign into my MS account. When I go to outlook.com under this account, I don't see any folders that contain my SMS history so I'm not sure where they are going.

Yeah, there's no official method of seeing the SMS messages in outlook.com.

There's a few methods highlighted in this thread

I use the Contact Filter method. The downside is that I only see incoming SMS messages (i.e. ones sent to me, but not ones I've sent).

But getting back to the subject, it looks like you've proven that SMS messages follow the email sync and don't initiate a sync by themselves. So, the only way to speed up the process is to increase the email polling frequency on both devices. Obviously, this will impact battery and network usage to some extent.

Try making your Microsoft account sync every 30 minutes? That's what I do and it works without a hitch.

I have mine going every 15 min now. Thanks everyone for the tips. I wish there was a way to have it be more immediate, but I guess I can't have everything.

I'm not sure if it works instantly, but worth a try, no?

I've tried that option but it doesn't work on the phone that received or sent the text. But once you tell that phone to sync many manually, the other phone will pick it up immediately if its set that way.

Sorry to hear that. Does it just not sync any texts when the sync is more frequent than thirty minutes or what?
