I had similar problem on Win 8.1 on my Lumia 925, but I have noted a problematic App lets say which upon its removal System storage in now back to 2.6 GB.

App in question was Asphalt 8 Airborne! It kept asking me for more space in order to update itself.

I'm not a developer, so I don't have WP 8.1 yet. Still just running WP8 on my Lumia 925. However, my system storage is now up to 4.61 GB, and it also seems to have been related to Asphalt 8 Airborne. While I love the game...I have since uninstalled it because I'm tired of the storage crap issues it keeps grieving me with. After uninstalling the game however, I'm still at 4.61 GB for system storage. Forgive me for being ignorant but how exactly does one perform a "hard reset?" And, what will I lose in performing one?
