So who is going to update this app when newer versions of Tango come out? We'll have to wait for Samsung or is this just a temporary solution? I'm guessing the next version of Tango will play well with Samsung phones and we all just ditch the old version Samsung version. At least I hope so.

I see HTC have their own version of Tango now too.

I haven't got round to trying Tango yet.

Really? What possible purpose does this serve? It seems there is nothing different from what the OEMs and Tango releases.

I think it' something to do with the video drivers ninjaap, each OEM Tango is supposed to be optimised for specific device drivers.

The HTC Tango app was made for the Titan & Radar.

Could very well be, but Samsung did a crappy job with the Focus video drivers.

I've never been into video calling so probably won't bother trying it, i think my webcam on the PC has been on twice in about 5 years LOL

Don't even use that with Skype.

Bit pointless anyway as my Omnia has no FFC. Maybe i'll try it sometime to see why everyone seemed so desperate to get it. :)

I frequently use video Skype on my laptop to keep in touch with family overseas. But since my Focus doesn't have an FFC either, I'd be using it more like i would use MMS and share things with friends and family.

Yes very true ninjaap, well i'm sure it will only get better. I might start to use Skype (Video) if it was on my phone, not sure.

I have plenty of Skype contacts, we'll see.

After i get my Titan and Skype is available of course LOL :)

Wonder if the Video Call app in the Samsung Zone is any good. It moans that I have no FFC of course.

I just installed Tango by HTC, in the release notes of the Market Place it's write version 1.1, but in the application > Setting > version 1.6.13248 Strange :s

So I tested the original app and the one by HTC, and I didn't notice any difference between both on my HTC Radar.

I tested Tango between my wife's iphone 4s and my radar, it's working well. The video quality is lower than facetime but acceptable, audio is quite good.

At least Tango is the first videoconf app available for Android, IOS, Wp7, Mac and PC.

Now, I'm waiting for Skype (and Lync) also to see which one will have the better video quality.

Yes i guess the cross platform is a big bonus. I have always found Skype video to be good when I tried it but that wasn't via 3G.

It'll be fun trying out Skype, looking forward to that I must admit.

Had it on previous phones but no video calls.

(Sorry ninjaap I seem to have hijacked your thread) :(

I wish you could send text messages over Skype for free, from a PC. It's the one thing that will keep me hanging on to Google Voice.

I do not think video is possible off wifi. Facetime only allows wifi connections.

Good to hear that Tango works well enough between 4S and HTC as that is what i will be using.

Kinda late to the party w/this, but it's also working well w/my Focus & my wife's 4S, aside from having to turn my phone over so she can see me, lol. But it's more valuable to be able to show each other events in real time rather than our faces.

I guess I show up in the Tango contacts of some iOS users. They know I have WP7, so it's another signal to them that the platform is expanding.
